SOLVITUR VIVENDO (IT IS SOLVED THROUGH LIVING)
Risk being your best every day at Perk. In preparing individuals for success in college and life, we nurture common sense, a sense of justice, a sense of honor, a sense of responsibility and a sense of humor.
The Perkiomen School is a traditional coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school where structure, support, self-discipline, and integrity are valued. Perkiomen admits students in grades six through twelve and offers a year for postgraduate students.
Perk is located in Greater Philadelphia. Within walking distance of campus 50 shops, restaurants, banks, and salons are available for students. The Lehigh Valley is to the north (Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton), Philadelphia is 49 miles to our south, and New York City is only 104 miles east. Perkiomen is convenient to some of the nation’s finest cultural and educational institutions, great shopping and entertainment, and beautiful countryside with skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and much more.
The Perkiomen School offers a superb college preparatory education—from a middle school experience that nurtures independent inquiry, to the latest instructional technology applied in innovative ways.
Perk students have the chance to take on many original and intriguing challenges—creating their own works of historical fiction, managing mock political campaigns, even investigating simulating homicides in Forensic Science. With a 7 to 1 student teacher ratio, Perk’s small classes allow learning to become truly interactive.
At Perk, we believe that to learn and grow into responsible citizens of the world requires a certain kind of risk, a willingness to face new challenges. Take Mandarin Chinese, try out for a sport you have never played before—or hit the crime lab to find a killer. Of course, you will make a mistake or two. Just be sure you learn from the experience.
Sound Mind, Sound Body
Strength, determination, diligence, leadership … daily athletic activity creates a strong and competitive individual who can work for both personal and team success. Athletic facilities include: Baker Baseball Field, Freeman Football Field, Zeller Lacrosse and Soccer Field, Stauffer Tennis courts, Schultz Family Softball Field, an outdoor batting cage and four additional athletic fields; and the Hollenbach Athletic Center that houses two gyms, a fitness center, batting cage, and a six-lane indoor swimming pool.
A Culture of Creativity
It’s been said that life is about the people you meet and the things you create together. Whether your interest is music, theater or visual art, you can move from building skills to creating original work at a high level. The opportunities are all here, from the Jazz Combo, to electives in filmmaking and digital design, to the chance to work one-on-one with a teacher to develop an outstanding portfolio for art school.
Art is a universal language through which we all can make dynamic, life-changing connections. The art program at Perk creates connections that instill critical thinking, creative problem solving, aesthetic understanding and self-discipline. Students are able to explore their own limits and ultimately push well beyond them. Through art, students understand themselves and others better. The artistic literacy taught and encouraged at Perkiomen not only sets students on the right path toward being successful artists, but it also provides them with the tools necessary to become successful human beings.
Life at Perk
One of Perk’s most striking strengths is its intimate scale. This is a campus where nearly every student, teacher, and staff member knows nearly everyone else. At Perk, you will be understood and appreciated—in class and beyond, not just as a student, but as a complete person. As you move through your personal journey here, you will be surrounded by mentors, guides, and friends. You will be part of classes, dorms, teams, and a school community that all have the feeling of family.
